The Annual General Meeting has been and gone once again. All the Committee are congratulated for showing their interest.

This website has not been updated for a few weeks because of storm damage onto our computer. A total rebuild was required and subsequently all the expected updates were delayed. My apologies.

Feb 17, 2007

The Management Committee approved the final Draft of Amended Rules for submission to members for consideration at the Annual General Meeting. The amendments reflect the changes that have occurred in the operations of the ASA and to allow for postal voting for any decisions required as well as for the Election of Officers for the Committee.

There are also changes to the Discipline procedure. Draft RULES 2007

The Annual General Meeting of Members is being held on March 3, 2007 at 10.30am

Due Notice has been given by mail to all members.

Notice has also been given for the Election of Officers, Reports and a change to the Rules.

The meeting will be in the Arts and Craft Hall, Castlereagh St, Penrith near Tindale St.

The ASA website has been relocated to www.spiritualist.asn.au the previous website will direct all browsers to this site. The website, for now is still the same.

This reflects our associations status as a Religious Organisation and the Philosophy that it holds.

The Australian National Health and Medical Research Council will oversee a $5 million project to investigate the use and effectiveness of hundreds of pills, potions and therapies that mostly have little standing in conventional medicine, the Australian Health Minister, Tony Abbott, has announced.

ALTERNATIVE medicines, which are bought by up to 75 per cent of Australians, face their toughest scrutiny yet under an investigation commissioned by the Federal Government.

The ASA is seeking the support of its church group members to qualify and apply to be accepted by the Australian Attorney General's Department as a Nominating Authority for the purposes of the Marriage Act. Soon each of our Church Group Members will be receiving a questionaire to complete to determine if your group is able and would support the ASA in this next step. With the level of necessary qualifications and the associated initial and annual costs for all Independent Church Groups that have a Rev Minister who is a Marriage Celebrant, This is an alternative to consider. If you are interested in discussing this please contact the ASA College by email.

And so again we can only reiterate that if you seek the services of a Spiritual Healer or Reader you need to be cautious as to who you contact. Our advise is to seek people who have integrity and provide a quality service.

If unsure you are always free to consult the ASA . The ASA not only recommends it's own accredited members but also locals that are known to be reputable.

The ASA has had it's application to cancel its Incorporation under the NSW Associations Incorporation Act approved and advertised in the Government Gazetted on Aug 11, 2006.

The Memorandum and Rules of the ASA will now need to be reviewed and amended as a result of the motions accepted by members at the 2005 and 2006 Annual General Meetings.

They will both be remembered and respected for their achievements for many years.
